 Berlino - "L'Italia non è più un'infezione per l'Unione Europea" sono le parole di Mario Monti alla conferenza stampa con la cancelliera Angela Merkel.
Dopo aver parlato di come rafforzare il fondo salva Stati, chiedendo alla Bce di contribuire a questo, la Merkel si è congratulata per le riforme attuate nel nostro Paese dall'esecutivo del governo, dichiarando che " le misure varate rafforzeranno l'Italia e le prospettive economiche, le ho seguite con grande rispetto e ho apprezzato molto la velocità con la quale sono state attuate".
Il premier ha parlato, inoltre, della fase due della manovra: liberalizzazioni, crescita ed equità, ma ha anche fatto presente che il governo non può chiedere altri sacrifici agli italiani e che se non ci saranno segnali di ripresa da parte dell'Europa, in Italia potrebbe crescere un sentimento anti-europeo e anti-tedesco.
"Con la mia politica - afferma Monti secondo quanto riportato dal quotidiano diretto da Ezio Mauro - non posso avere successo se l'Unione europea non cambia, e se ciò non si verifica il mio Paese, che è stato sempre un Paese molto favorevole all'Europa, potrebbe gettarsi nelle braccia dei populisti".
L'incontro con la Merkel è forse il più importante delle diverse tappe della maratona fra le capitali europee del professore: prima Parigi, ora Berlino, il 18 gennaio Londra, dove lo attende quella City che scommette contro l'Italia, per poi ospitare Germania...
